Uploaded on #ThrowbackThursday, this release features some of my earliest recordings from when I first discovered avant-garde/experimental music as a whole.

In July of 2007, I used an old mp3 player's microphone function to record myself performing an improvised piece on my brother's Yamaha keyboard. At the time, I was learning so many new ideas, all of which enthralled me, about how music can be created and even how music can be defined. My youthful excitement about experimentation is, I think, detectable through the raw energy of the recording.

In November of 2007, I decided that I would use the same mp3 player's line-in recording function to attempt to create a higher-quality version of the improvised piece I'd done months ago. Between July and November, I spent a considerable amount of time practicing on my brother's keyboard until I felt that I could more or less reproduce what I'd originally played. The final product turned out to be significantly different but still playful and endearingly amateurish.
